DJ San & Sebastian Moore – Change [Balkan Connection]

Following up last years 'Virgo', DJ San & Sebastian Moore return to Balkan Connection with a new EP. The Dutch duo are a highly regarded production team, routinely earning the praise of John Digweed and John 00 Fleming, while also landing releases via Freegrant and Welcome Music. Now making their mark on the summer season, DJ San and Sebastian land on Balkan Connection once again with a two track showcase entitled 'Change'.

Opting for a deeper vibe than some of their past productions, it is the title selection which leads the release off. Although progressive in ethos there are some gorgeous organic qualities and stunning musical themes which resonate strongly here. It's bright, reflective melodies are hugely poignant, drawing out waves of emotion with each passing loop and eventually settling in a colourful interlude for the ages. Magical and timeless in equal measure, it's likely one of San and Seb's best collaborative works to date.

Equally impressive however is the companion piece 'Raindrops' which comes in a touch deeper. Fluid from the outset, it's sleek progressive minded groove serves as the anchor for a storyboard of hazy harmonics. Leaving something to the imagination along the way is where it's strength ultimately lies, never pushing the melodic boundary too far and eventually unveiling a delicate theme during the break. Stunning music from DJ San & Sebastian Moore, who continue to get the most out of their collaborative efforts. Highly recommended.
