DJ San & Sebastian Moore – Accretion [Welcome Music]

Welcome Music begins the new year with a new single from DJ San and Sebastian Moore. While enjoying success in their respective solo careers, the Dutch duo have also been studio partners in the past. Joint releases for John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings, Balkan Connection and Freegrant Music have showcased what great creative synergy San and Sebastian have. Now furthering that ethos the duo land on Welcome Music with 'Accretion', alongside remixes from Kamilo Sanclemente and Rise and Fall.

Beginning with the Original Mix, San and Sebastian craft a timeless piece of progressive house. It’s warm beats and well sculpted groove carry a large presence, while waves of percussion and tranquil themes advance the narrative. As momentum builds, wispy vocals and fragmented melodies play off each other for gorgeous moments. Free flowing into the break, placid pads add nicely to it's emotional appeal, gently drifting across the centrepiece, evoking feelings of hope as a granular wave sparks a thumping drop and smooth finale.

First up on the remixes is one of progressive music's finest Kamilo Sanclemente. The Colombian artist remains one of the genre's most prolific and in demand producers, finding a home on Anjunadeep, Replug and The Soundgarden. Bringing his best with each successive outing Kamilo adds some muscle to 'Accretion' with great results. A beefier groove sits at the foundation, while dynamic percussion, robotized vocals and wavy arps combine for a free flowing blend of colour and texture. Short but impactful, the main break advances the narrative with it's strong melodic theme; goosebump worthy and instrumental in setting up a groovy, chord changing final movement.

Rounding out the release with the second and final remix is Rise and Fall. Known for releases on Bedrock and Perfecto, the Russian artist blends the best characteristics of progressive house and trance for a satisfying amalgamation of sound. Such is the case with his 'Accretion' interpretation which ups the tempo and drive for a perfect complement to it's predecessors. Engaging from the outset, its warm framework is crafted to perfection with smooth rhythms and stunning effects converging for a sensory saturating storyboard. Hazy harmonics and soulful wails lift the mood higher as the main break draws closer. Perfectly timed, the track’s centrepiece is tastefully trippy, as otherworldly themes melt down against a wave of percussion, before perfectly segueing into a purring finale. A brilliant remix from Rise and Fall which rounds out a must have release from Welcome Music to begin the year. Highly recommended.
