DJ AroZe – Una Vita Segreta [Eat My Hat Music]

The latest release from Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music welcomes DJ AroZe for his debut single. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Tel Aviv, Ofri Gayus aka AroZe came up through the progressive underground with a string of well received releases on ICONYC, Plattenbank, Soundteller and Steyoyoke. Now presenting his first project of 2020, DJ AroZe lands on Eat My Hat with ‘Una Vita Segreta’ alongside remixes from Ziger and Biskuwi.

Beginning with the Original Mix DJ AroZe continues to explore the tougher spectrum of melodic techno. Backed by a deliberate yet chugging groove, it’s stunning effects, tight percussion and rugged synths quickly create a surreal environment. Advancing the narrative is an astral arp, flowing through intriguing rhythmic shifts, before melting down into a cinematic break complete with indistinct voices and a drop which will command the full attention of your dance floor.

The first interpretation of ‘Una Vita Segreta’ is provided by Eat My Hat label boss Ziger. The Greek artist got the year underway with a well received remix of Juan Deminicis for Clubsonica Records before collaborating with Spanish star D-Formation on the powerful ‘Purge’. Now returning to his comfortable home of Eat My Hat, Ziger dials in another remix destined for Beatport chart success. Remarkably fluid and undeniably modern, it’s a mix that stays true to the devilish themes from the original, while adding an underlying tension through great use of the vocal elements and unique sonic artefacts. Esoteric atmospheres add further depth, before a more emotive break and punishing final act ultimately seals its brilliance.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Una Vita Segreta’ is provided by Biskuwi who makes his label debut. The Swedish artist owns a short but impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Soundteller Records and Steyoyoke. Now stepping up to Ziger’s Eat My Hat, Biskuwi rounds out the release with a clever take on ‘Una Vita Segreta’. Clocking in at seven minutes, it’s spacious rhythmic core quickly becomes infectious as tight arps and frayed percussion fill in the framework. Expansive and perfectly timed, the main break drifts further into cinematic territory, meditative at points, emotive at others, making for a memorable dance floor moment, before a smooth energy bridge transitions the piece into a rousing finale. A lovely remix from Biskuwi, rounding out another strong offering for Ziger’s Eat My Hat imprint. Highly recommended.
