Releases Daph – Utopisch / Egon [Onestar Records] By Release Promo Posted on 9th April 2020 4 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Onestar Records welcomes Daph to the label for his debut EP entitled 'Utopisch / Egon'. Well known in the Colombian electronic scene for his Stiben Dapper alias which he has released under for almost a decade on labels like System Recordings and Elliptical Sun Melodies. Now after debuting his deeper Daph alias with a contribution to Dirty Humans 'Dazed n Confused' Vol 2 in 2018, the Medellin resident lands on Onestar with 'Utopisch / Egon'. Beginning with ‘Utopisch’ Daph explores dreamy sounds and fluid themes. Warm, groovy and tastefully emotive, it’s a creation which quickly captures your imagination, pulsating with tranquil arps, poignant pianos and tough beats, as luminous pads further expand your consciousness. The main break proves impactful, gently building melodic tension before dropping out into an awe inspiring moment, as a wave of beats and percussion further elevates the mood through a stunning finale. The companion piece ‘Egon’ shifts the vibe considerably with more of an esoteric sensibility. Anchored by a full groove and tight, punchy core the piece develops as buzzing synths and fragmented arps fill in the framework. The second of two breaks ups anticipation through grinding modulation, elevating across a short but tension filled interlude as the beats drop out and a narrative of indistinct vocals carries you home. An intriguing production and one which makes this a diverse and incredibly satisfying Onestar debut from Daph. Highly recommended.
