SKALA – Liquid Gold [Stil Vor Talent]

By ProgressiveAstronaut

Following her maiden contribution to our 300th milestone VA issued a couple of months ago, Berlin-based SKALA clocks in on Stil vor Talent with her debut solo effort, "Liquid Gold". A three-track alchemy of sultry atmospherics, shamanic brainwaves and further spaced-out, big-room-focused momentums, this EP resounds as a statement of style from a burgeoning artist in the process of establishing her non-pareil voice in our scene. Breaking the EP in, the mystique-friendly title-track "Liquid Gold" taps in a seam of slo-burning, folk-informed house and laces it with future-ready engineerings. Imagine stepping in a smoke-shrouded den where your body and soul make one with that of the crowd's, glowing silhouettes stretching their odd contours out convulsive tides of stroboscopic lights and steamy emanations from the jam-packed engine room. The second cut doesn't drift much farther from that sensually dark, night-loving ambience made hers by SKALA. Out of a similar palette of ominous m

Now approaching two years since his debut, the Swedish artist has continued to build an impressive resume. Releases on Yotto’s Odd One Out, Balkan Connection, Hoomidaas and Transensations all landed with resounding success, firmly etching the Stockholm resident as one of progressive music’s top new comers. With 2022 looking to be a breakout year, EMPHI now returns to Deepwibe Underground with a stunning rendition of Dmitry Molosh's ‘Scaur’. We had a chance to catch up with EMPHI for an exclusive interview leading up to the release. Enjoy! Hello Johan, thanks for joining us. What is your current mood and what wa

Haddadi Von Engst Feat. Phonic Youth – Til The End (Super Flu Remix) [You Plus One]

Chart-topping LA duo Haddadi Von Engst return with another hellfire release that includes another A-lister on the remix. ‘Til The End’ is the most epic and memorable melodic techno EP from HVE to date. For this masterpiece, the classically trained production-wizards set a melancholic atmosphere with gorgeous arp work and dramatic loose keys. Dreamy vocals from San Francisco group Phonic Youth perfectly match the mood. The track gains momentum through uplifting melodies and drops that contrast the wistful lyrics to provide a strong sense of perseverance “-‘til the end”. For the remix, iconic dance music duo Super Flu do the impossible and rework this production into something equally special. Their more playful, twisted, drum-driven version, which sits effortlessly between afro house, latin rhythm, and melodic techno, is ready to tickle and tease the dancefloor into evolving madness. It is so brilliantly distinct yet complementary to HVE's original mix that the two tracks

The 137th release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Mariano Mellino and John Cosani back to the label for their debut collaborative EP. The Argentinean duo have achieved much success in their respective solo careers, holding a collective discography with releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings. Now coming together for their first ever studio collaborations Mariano and John present 'Syracusse/Islandia' alongside remixes from Danito & Athina and Simos Tagias. Both Mariano and John have been noted for their progressive minded productions and with their unique talents coming together they take it to a new level on ‘Syracusse’. Shuffled beats and mystical atmospheres create a surreal environment early before smooth rhythms and a rumbling low end lock down a strong groove. It's powerful, meditative drive leads to a cinematic break where waves of synths intensify over the rumbling foundation, ultimately leading to a huge moment and el
