CAMARADERIE – Afternight Artists [Seta Label]

Seta Label's vinyl division enters the summer season by welcoming CAMARADERIE to the label for their debut EP. Based in the Czech Republic and Miami, this cross continental duo creates richly textured, electronic music that crosses traditional genre barriers. After years of producing solo, Filip and Tomas found a creative synergy with a bond through reverberations of rhythmic frequencies. Now unveiling four distinct and equally compelling creations, the duo emerge on Seta Label with the 'Afternight Artists' EP.

It is the enchanting sounds of 'Ven Pa Ca' which set the course for the release. Warm, buoyant beats, subtle shades and vibrant tones set the piece in motion, as cross cultural vocals and dusty percussion add a gorgeous hip swinging quality. Wavy arps and dulcet chord stabs add mightily to the story across the first act, eventually leading to an expansive centrepiece which replies on timely modulation to add tension and anticipation to the groovy finale. It's inviting nature perfectly segues into the selection two 'Esta Noche' which finds the duo collaborating with Sensoreal who sits at the forefront of the Slovak scene. Rhythmically powerful from the outset, it’s a marriage of cross cultural vocals, icy atmospheres and deliberate percussion which make for an upbeat journey. Freeform phrasing carries into the main break, as the vocal continues to evolve and appease the senses, before striking harmonics and meandering motifs deliver a romping conclusion.

The EP's halfway point is marked with the afro-inspired 'Movimiento'. Continuing the ethos set by it's predecessors, CAMARADERIE focuses on a heavier drum arrangement here with an impressive display of exotic hits eventually revealing a spiritual sounding vocal motif. Perhaps the most progressive sounding of the quartet, it's catchy synth hooks are texturally dense and satisfying, adding a gorgeous character and warmth during the main break, before the drop unveils further drum exploration on the road home. Rounding out the release is 'The Wire' which diversifies CAMARADERIE's portfolio further through additional drum detail and percussive excellence. It's deep, pulsating groove comes with great momentum, while drum splashes and retro stabs add just the right number of dynamic moments on wards to a meditative second act. Flawlessly tailored for an astute dance floor, it rounds out four stunning creations from CAMARADERIE, who have made their debut collaborative project a most memorable one. Highly recommended.
