Releases Brisboys – Don’t Go Changing [Brisbeats Records] By Release Promo Posted on 29th October 2024 7 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Brisbeats Records continues their resurgence with a new single from label boss Brisboys. Hailing from Ireland, John Manning aka Brisboys has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of three decades. As a DJ first, John found his place amongst Northern Ireland's burgeoning nightlife, holding down residences, both radio and club, dating all the way back to the late nineties. After a chance meeting with fellow countryman Ciaran Duffy (RIP) in Australia in 2008, the duo formed the Brisboys alias, going on to release projects for Frequenza, Krafted Digital, One Of A Kind and the infamous Rising High. A four-year hiatus to focus on the Bemannte & Bruder alias shelved the Brisboys moniker until earlier this year, a time when John took the reins in solo capacity and subsequently rebooted his Brisbeats Records imprint. June would see the label return in grand fashion with 'Sunset Dreams', a Brisboys creation complete with nostalgic progressive vibes and remixes from K Loveski, Nicolas Benedetti and Glenn Molloy. Now, following an EP for Soundteller Records, Brisboys returns to his Brisbeats imprint with 'Don't Go Changing', alongside remixes from Agustin Pietrocola and Theodor jasper. Following on from the success of June's 'Sunset Dreams', Brisboys 'Don't Go Changing' continues his penchant for creating timeless progressive house. It's not often you hear a piano-led track these days but this throw-back style works quite well here. Preceded by a framework of meaty kick drums, muscular basslines and a captivating arp, it's the main break where the lead piano drops, conjuring up images and sounds from the mid to late nineties, and ultimately fuelling an uplifting finale that's nicely suited to the morning hours. The first remix on the release is provided by Agustin Pietrocola who makes his label debut following projects for Mango Alley and UV. The Buenos Aires resident puts a modern day progressive twist on the track, stripping it down for a tighter more compact groove that's nicely accented with the arp from the original. Agustin flexes his creative prowess across the break, making great use of the piano with a just a touch of processing for a less retro-feel, a poignant moment and one which spearheads a tough driving conclusion. The release concludes with a final remix from Theodor jasper who returns to the label following a contribution to the 'Our Vision' collection in 2022. The Irish born, Australia based artist adds further depth and variety to the release with a chunky breakbeat rendition, complete with heavenly vocal pads and deconstructed piano's for a version that would be equally at home on the dancefloor, or a late night headphone listening session. Emotive and timeless in equal measure it rounds out an excellent offering for Brisbeats, a label that continues to re-emerge and impress as we approach 2025.
