The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes Benja Molina back to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Spain, Benja Molina first emerged in 2009 with releases via 2Real and Sunset Rec. where his club friendly sound flourished. Evolving as an artist over the next decade, the Madrid resident would adopt a deeper more contemporary sound, eventually leading to projects for Massive Harmony Records and Monkey League. Deepwibe's Digital imprint would also become a landing spot for the Spaniard, with his 'Terranova' and 'Al Nair Down' EPs released in April and July of this year respectively. Having made his Deepwibe Underground debut with a contribution to the label's Chapter II collection, Benja now returns for his first artist EP 'The Godness Zoe', alongside a remix from Matias Burna.

Beginning with 'Cygnus' Benja crafts a muscular framework of punchy beats and thumping grooves. Its rhythmic energy grows quickly, as waves of percussion, colourful atmospheres and sweeping effects add drive across the first act. Emotive chord changes and wispy melodic structures carry nicely into the main break which is both tranquil and timely. The interlude builds tension masterfully, as textural phrasing opens up into a cavernous ambiance, eventually breaking off into a groovy finale.

'Up All Night' continues the peak progressive vibes with its clever beats and flickering percussion setting the piece in motion. Fragmented vocals and aquatic effects add to the narrative, creating a smooth meditative state leading into the main break. Expansive and well crafted, the interlude captivates with further vocal trickery eventually revealing a soulful lead theme and charged drop.

Meanwhile, the title selection finds Benja at the peak of his creative powers with a free-flowing cut that effortlessly weaves it's way through hazy harmonic refrains and mind-bending effects. A strong dance floor sensibility and unpredictable storyboarding not only makes it a standout on the EP but foreshadows more great music to come from Benja.

The release concludes with Matias Burna who returns to the label with the lone interpretation of 'Up All Night'. A contribution to Deepwibe's popular Chapter III collection marked the Argentine's label debut, following on from releases via Balkan Connection's BC2 and Pillar. Now putting his remixer cap on Matias provides a quality rendition of 'Up All Night' which ups tempo and pace, while bringing a tougher framework and nostalgic sounding break to close the release out in fine style. Highly recommended.
