Andre Moret – Recover [Clubsonica Records]

Clubsonica Records continues a strong start to the new year by welcoming Andre Moret to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from São Paulo but now based in Campinas, the Brazilian artist has been rising out of his country's burgeoning progressive house scene. Having already landed releases on Balkan Connection, Soundteller Records, Stellar Fountain and Transensations Records, Andre now debut's on Clubsonica with 'Recover' alongside a remix from Magitman.

Andre has become loved for his unique cross pollination of progressive house and trance. The title selection 'Recover' leads the release off and showcases this ethos wonderfully. It's chugging rhythms flow effortlessly across the first act, building waves of momentum as tantalizing arps and shimmering pads shift energy into the main break. Wispy atmospherics coupled with emotive chord changes and tasteful modulation highlight the centrepiece, before smoothly segueing into a driving finale. The second selection 'New Earth' follows with a deeper more spacious vibe. Incredibly groovy, catchy hooks blanket a chunky foundation as icy pads drift in and out of the stereo field, eventually leading to an expansive centrepiece. Spanning over two minutes in length, the main break is a showcase of Andre's precise craftsmanship, as cinematic drifts and detailed sonics build a compelling canopy of sound. Understated yet poignant, a gentle build teases the senses as a tasteful drop ushers in a stylish third act.

The lone interpretation of 'New Earth' is provided by Magitman who makes his label debut. The Israeli artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for well over a decade, with a portfolio that includes releases on Beat Boutique, Movement Recordings and Proton Music. Now making his much anticipated Clubsonica debut, Magitman delivers a gorgeous rendition of 'New Earth'. Deep, intricate and undeniably groovy, it's a mesmerizing journey into the depths of hypnotic house. A touch tougher than the original, its buoyant framework is offset with acidic tones, astral artefacts and a less distinct take on the lead theme, making it ideal for a broad range of dance floors, while still delivering a heartfelt message.

Rounding out the release is the third and final original 'Reflective Shades'. Aptly titled, its reflective qualities prove to be the perfect end to this exhilarating sound story. Anchored by a warm progressive groove, its rhythmic core comes up quickly, with layers of finely tuned drums, subtle shades and vibrant tones. Airy pads and ghostly wails converge while astral arps and hopeful overlays rise towards the heart of the piece. Melting down into the break, its joyous theme resonates on a higher frequency, flowing through tasteful modulation as the groove drops for a finale of emotive chord changes. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Andre, making his debut EP for Clubsonica a most memorable one.
