Allan McLoud – Solitude [Movement Recordings]

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the new year by welcoming Allan McLoud to the label for his debut EP. Scottish-born, Zurich-based producer/DJ Allan McLoud has been involved in electronic music for well over three decades. The late eighties found Allan fascinated with the synth-driven styles which quickly found prominence during that era; a sound which led him to begin producing breakbeat influenced electronic music, before eventually finding his true passion in trance. It was a sound which would lead him to Germany where he began DJing in the country's north and building a catalog full of releases supported by the top DJs of the time. Fast forward to present day and Allan now calls Zurich home where he has rejuvenated his studio repertoire with the sounds of progressive house. His energetic melodic take on the genre has served him well, landing key releases for John OO Fleming's Joof Aura, Droid9, LuPS Records and Transensations. Now, getting 2024 underway with one of the biggest releases of his career, Allan makes his Movement Recordings debut with 'Solitude', alongside a remix from NOIYSE PROJECT.

The title selection 'Solitude' finds Allan operating at the peak of his creative powers with a main-room progressive flavor that has huge crossover appeal. Club-effective grooves and flashing percussion lay the foundation for ethereal vocal fragments, creamy melodies and anthemic overlays to forge a colourful path into the break. Building anticipation across the interlude, Allan allows the panoramic soundscapes to fully engage the listener, before unleashing the groove for an uplifting finale. Meanwhile, 'Restlessness' follows suit with a nostalgic groove and trance-inspired melodies to further elevate mood and energy across the release. Euphoric synth phrasing and swirling atmospheric effects make for an intoxicating break, perfectly setting up a huge peak-time finish.

The release concludes with NOIYSE PROJECT making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Solitude'. Rising out of Sri Lanka's progressive house scene, NOIYSE PROJECT took inspiration from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren to become one of the genre's most sought after artists. Releases via The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music sit as discography highlights, while he has continued to delight fans with his impeccable taste and programming skills as a DJ. 2022 proved to be a breakout year for the Colombo resident. On the strength of projects for his Till The Sunrise imprint, NOIYSE PROJECT rose to Beatport's Best Selling Progressive House Hype artist, a position which has been reserved for just a select few across the last two calendar years. Now, getting 2024 underway in style, NOIYSE PROJECT makes his Movement Recordings debut with a huge remix of 'Solitude'. The Sri Lankan's distinctive style sounds as impressive as ever, as he takes the smooth melodic vibe of the original and re-models it into his groovy, percussive sound. Rippling bass and sprawling atmospherics are the order of the day, ultimately paving the way to a glowing, fuzzed out interlude, which eventually breaks off into a thumping drop and absolutely enormous finale.
