Add-us – Find You [ICONYC]

John Johnson's ICONYC caps off a successful year by welcoming Add-us to the label for their debut single. Now three years into their collaborative project, the German duo boast an impressive resume highlighted by releases for Aesthetika, BeatFreak and Parquet Recordings, where their melodic house & techno sound has flourished. Now as 2021 winds to a close, Add-us adds ICONYC to their portfolios with 'Find You', alongside remixes from Clawz SG and Jurek Riegler.

Continuing to explore emotive narratives within modern techno frameworks, Add-us delivers one of their finest productions to date in 'Find You'. Fuzzed out grooves, meticulously manicured percussion and heartfelt melodies are the order of the day here, making for a spectacular setup leading into the break. Shifting mood in the centrepiece is a ghostly sounding vocal which runs across the entirety of the interlude. While void of full phrasing, it's looping effect is powerful, gradually building in intensity and hitting just the right emotional centers in order to spearhead a nostalgic sounding finale.

Also making his label debut is Clawz SG who provides the first interpretation of 'Find You'. Best known for his releases via Steyoyoke and Proton Music, the French artist now lands on ICONYC with his distinctive sound. Metallic melodies and shape-shifting grooves standout here, all while incorporating the vocal in a tastefully restrained fashion. A touch more grandiose than the original, particularly across the break, which eventually melts down to a wave of flickering melodies and icy pads, before a groove-centric drop highlights the vocal once more.

The release concludes with a third label debutante Jurek Riegler providing the second and final interpretation of 'Find You'. The Berlin based producer and audio engineer diversifies the release further with an electronica take that delivers both creatively and emotionally. Muscular break beats and rolling percussive arrangements set the pace for a progressive narrative of squirrelly melodies, classy effects and perhaps most impactful, a memorable break which seals it's wistful appeal. Stunning stuff from Jurek which rounds out a gorgeous release from ICONYC to begin the final month of the year. Highly recommended.
