Polyptych's Noir division closes out the month of August with a new single from A·Tonic and Messier. Hailing from Mexico and the USA respectively both A·Tonic and Messier are well established in their solo careers. A combined discography boasts releases via Awen Tales, Dear Deer, Techno Tehran Records, Three Hands Records, Uxoa Dutxa and more. The duos astral sounds have also found favour with a broad selection of the underground's tastemakers in Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Richie Hawtin, Guy Gerber and more. Polyptych has also served as a landing spot for both A·Tonic and Messier with the former making his debut in 2020 with 'Infinite Chaos', while Messier's 'Inception' marked his label debut in 2021. Now pairing up for the labels' Noir division, A·Tonic and Messier present their latest single 'Requiem', alongside remixes from ReCorpo and Zy Khan.

Combining their extensive forces, A·Tonic and Messier prove their creative synergy is operating at it's peak on 'Requiem'. The track’s darker undertone is balanced beautifully with neatly manicured percussion which drives nicely alongside side haunting vocal fragments and crunchy rhythmic structures. Striking effects and hopeful pads add further depth, nicely placed in the mix to add character without being overwhelming, while a prophetic sounding break proves to be the ideal interlude to seal it’s brilliance.

Hailing from Italy and providing the first remix is ReCorpo who returns to the label. Previously known as VayFlor, the Naples resident has compiled a meticulous discography since creating the new moniker in 2021. Astral Records, ICONYC and Suprematic have served as landing spots for his atmospheric brand of techno. Having made his label debut earlier this year with a remix of Brando's 'Page', ReCorpo now returns with a stellar rendition of 'Requiem'. Staying true to the darker undertone of the original, the Italian artist shifts the mood into more of a techno state of mind, through tight compact grooves and deliberate percussive arrangements. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, ReCorpo balances elastic-like arps with poignant overlays and a hazy take on the vocal elements, for what should result in a deeper yet powerful track to send people home with a smile.

The release concludes with Zy Khan providing the second and final interpretation of 'Requiem'. With appearances on Polyptych's Main, Limited and Noir division's the London resident has been a primary contributor to the label's collective, while also finding a home on Electronic Tree, SLC-6 Music and Techno Tehran Records. Now stepping up Polyptych's Noir division for the second time, Zy turns in a crafty remix of 'Requiem'. The revamped groove opens up for some additional warmth for a deeper, while dusty percussion and quirky arps provide a path into the main break. Symphonic and emotional in equal measure, the interlude melts down to a colourful blend of effects, before eventually dropping out into a groove-centric finale. A strong remix from Zy Khan, making for an excellent return to the label for himself, ReCorpo and A·Tonic & Messier. Highly recommended.
