Releases Chris Llopis – Platonic Shower [Flow Vinyl] By Release Promo Posted on 27th December 2017 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Pena’s Flow Vinyl caps of 2017 with a new EP entitled ‘Platonic Shower’ from Chris Llopis. The Swedish artist has a long history in electronic music, dating back to his early releases on Iboga records in 2004. Forever treading the waters between European psy-prog and techno, Chris has found a unique sonic space. Although 2017 yielded only two releases, they proved impactful, ultimately leading to a new EP for Flow alongside remixes from Dmitry Molosh and Luca Doobie. The title cut ‘Platonic Shower’ leads the release off showcasing Chris’ more techno inspired repertoire. A barrage of tough but fluid beats lays down the foundation before crispy electronics and waves of percussion bring an intense yet meditative vibe. Timely drops and rhythmic shifts are the key to making this the floor burning seven minute journey that it is. A peak time masterpiece with electric vibes and no doubt one that will find its way into a lot of New Years Eve sets. The companion piece ‘Virtual Road’ lowers the tempo a touch for a slightly deeper yet no less techno inspired piece. It’s spacious groove and intricate detail sits in a wonderful sonic space, complementing the bigger lead piece wonderfully. One of this year's brightest stars in progressive house was no doubt Dmitry Molosh. The Belarus based artist continued to rise in the genre and highlighted his discography with releases on ICONYC and KDB Records. The marriage of Dmitry and Flow Vinyl seems like a perfect match the remix certainly dictates that. Bringing the tempo down several notches and reshaping the groove has added remarkable swing, something Dmitry has certainly become much loved for. It’s this progressive cadence which ultimately carries the piece on a smooth, atmospheric, yet at times exhilarating journey, one where a well crafted break brings all the dance floor heat you could ever need. Closing the release out is Luca Doobie who is making his first appearance on the label. The Italian artist found a home on Tulipa Records this year where he released a single and remix. Now closing out 2017 in style Luca takes ‘Virtual Road’ into tech house territory with great results. The lead theme from the original is well maintained, albeit tweaked slightly but it’s the rhythmic core and percussive drive which ultimately shines. Tight and full of rolling energy it leads to an astral synth which descends over the framework before ultimately giving way to the groove for a smooth finish. A stellar remix from Luca, capping off a very well rounded release from Pena’s Flow Vinyl to end 2017 on a high note.
