Based in Spain, the Dark Light duo are at the beginning of their production journey with this being their first ever release. Having honed their skills in the progressive and melodic house arena, Michon's Polyptych Noir now steps up to serve as the initial landing spot for their debut EP entitled 'Bard's Tale'. The release begins with the uplifting vibes of ‘Red Sky’. Buoyant and fluid, it carries a groovy yet tough quality from the outset. Punchy beats provide the backbone for a series of choir-like overlays, menacing stabs and trance-inducing arps to work their magic across the first act. Continuing to gain momentum, rising modulation elevates tension, providing a bridge into the main break. Dark Light goes all out here with a symphonic interlude for the ages, as metallic melodies percolate against a colourful backdrop, eventually getting washed away as a restrained re-entry sets the course for a euphoric finale that is sure to light up your dancefloor. The companion and also title selection ‘Bard's Tale’ follows a similar sonic ethos and resonates on an equally impressive level. Remarkably powerful, its muscular groove commands attention, moving through rolling contours and rhythmic pulses, while deconstructed vocals and devilish effects add further colour to the framework. Poignant chord stabs and cross-cultural motifs unite in a unique sonic unison, eventually breaking off into an interlude of psychedelic audio. Expertly crafted, the break smoothly segues into a series of wavy arps, as mulched vocals fade and muted beats rise towards an astral crescendo and a finale that basks in retro-radiance.
