Hernan Martinez (AR) – Botanic [Stellar Fountain]

Following on from the release of 'Signals from the Void' IX, Stellar Fountain welcomes Hernan Martinez to the label for his debut EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist first came to our attention in 2021 with a release on Madloch's Future Avenue. The three track EP would set a precedent for Hernan's deep progressive sound, eventually leading to additional projects for the label along with AH Digital and Balkan Connection. Now turning his hand to more organic inspired creations, Hernan makes his debut on Stellar Fountain with 'Botanic', alongside remixes from RYAN (AR) and Kokiyo.

Beginning with 'Anthurium', Hernan crafts a driving drummy cut that lands somewhere in between progressive and organic house. Exotic drum flurries flank the thumping groove as meandering atmospheres and trance inducing melodies carry energy into a timely break. Serene and calming, the centrepiece slowly melts the drum elements away for a moment of serenity, before ushering in a balmy finale. Meanwhile, the companion piece 'Cynbidium' picks up the tempo a touch while keeping a similar design profile to it's predecessor. Dreamy, incandescent melodies once again provide the primary motifs along the journey, while punchy beats and a sturdy groove translate their otherworldly message to the dance floor.

Fresh off releases for Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Nature Rec, Ryan (AR) makes his label debut and provides the first interpretation of 'Anthurium'. Born in Argentina and now based in Spain, Ryan keeps the misty melodic flavor of the original, while dubbing it down slightly for a lighter more groove centric take that sounds nicely suited to the dimly lit late night hours.

Also making his label debut is Kokiyo who provides the second and final interpretation of 'Anthurium'. The Mexican artist has made considerable strides since first emerging in 2018. 3rd Avenue, Flug Lab, Hoomidaas, Kiksuya Records, The Purr and more have all been landing spots for his organic sounds. Now adding Stellar Fountain to his resume, Kokiyo dials in a smooth rendition of 'Anthurium' to round out the release. The Tijuana resident goes deeper and less distinct than the original, re-imagining the trippy arpeggiated sequences and crafting an expansive break of daydream proportions. Sure to find favour with progressive and organic Djs alike, it rounds out excellent Stellar Fountain debuts for Hernan Martinez, Ryan (AR) and Kokiyo. Don't miss it.
