Following on from his 2019 'Selfless' EP, Ultraverse returns to Balkan Connection with 'World Simulation'. The Irish artist and BC2 Records A&R is fresh off a release for Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, while also laying claim to 2020 outings on BCSA, Droid9, INU and Mirabilis Records. Now making a welcome return to Balkan Connection, Ultraverse presents a new EP alongside remixes from Claudio Cornejo and Ewan Rill & K Loveski.

Beginning with the title track Ultraverse moves into deep territory with a warm spacious groove, smooth rhythms and dreamy tones. Wispy atmospherics and playful chord stabs advance the narrative, perfectly setting the stage for a soulful musical lead to descend over the framework. Cascading keys add a poignant flair, before a well crafted break does wonders to build anticipation towards a groovy drop. A timeless beauty from Ultraverse. The companion piece 'Easy B' follows a similar sonic ethos with a warm undercurrent laying the foundation for wonderous musical themes. Again timeless in execution, the main break features a spoken word vocal which adds further depth to the story, as clattering drums and rising atmospheres take you onwards to a heavenly finale.

The first interpretation is provided by Claudio Cornejo who is fresh off a contribution to the Or Two Strangers 'Strangers' 2 collection. The Cordoba resident and one half of Analog Jungs takes 'World Simulation' into techier territory with great results. Backed by a tough, rolling groove the Argentine's detailed drum work and swing heavy rhythms quickly appease the senses. A fragmented take on the lead musical elements makes for a tripper, more cosmic feel, before the main break pushes emotion higher into an exhilarating conclusion.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'World Simulation' is Ewan Rill and K Loveski. The Russian duo have been frequent studio partners of late, earning support from Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J, while landing releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Balance Music. Here they bring more magic to 'World Simulation' with a funky rendition that complements the previous versions quite nicely. Engaging from the outset, its warm framework is crafted to perfection with smooth rhythms and hypnotic arps converging for a gorgeous free form story. Quirky melodies and soulful wails lift the mood higher as the first act evolves. Perfectly timed, the track’s centrepiece is tasteful trippy, as crunchy rhythms melt down against a wave of drums as the groove drops for a powerful finale. A brilliant remix from Ewan Rill and K Loveski which rounds out another must have release from Balkan Connection. Highly recommended.
