The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes ROCKKA to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Rockka aka Lakith Adikaram has been releasing his own unique style of progressive music for just over a year. Appearances on Emotional Content Recordings, Superordinate Music and OLD SQL Recordings highlight his discography with 2020 looking to be even more prolific. Now stepping up for his first and much anticipated Deepwibe Underground release, ROCKKA presents his 'Star Voyage' EP.

Focusing on the nostalgic spectrum of progressive house it’s the title selection ‘Star Voyage’ which gets the EP underway. Warm and well contoured, the groove is bouncy, inviting and highly rhythmic. Tantalizing arps and wispy effects work incredibly well together, while driving percussion fills in the framework. The main break furthers the narrative with tasteful modulation and a hopeful overlay which builds anticipation, elevating mood before the chunky groove drops in for a smooth finish. Moving on to ‘Creza’ we get more energetic vibes with a tough, driving groove and spiralling synths leading the way. Ominous tones soon trail over the framework, complemented with percussive splashes add lovely rhythmic shifts. It’s the astral arp which ultimately carries the narrative though, ever evolving it keeps your attention locked while a gorgeous centrepiece hits at exactly the right moment.

The EP’s halfway point is marked with the bass heavy ‘Echoes’. It’s meaty groove is not only full of great character but sets the perfect foundation for a variety of percussive elements, drifting atmospheres and melancholic meanderings; not the least of which is a glimmering effects line which blankets the groove and ultimately shines during an expansive break. Rounding out the release are the romping dance floor vibes of ‘Secret City’ which adds a punchier yet reflective mood to conclude the EP. Perhaps the most emotive track on the release it’s nine minute running time is a journey into wistful themes and ghostly harmonics, perfectly coming together during an impassioned break which is sure to leave lasting memories on the dance floor. It caps off another inspired offering from Deepwibe Underground who continue to discover some of the the planet's newest electronic music talent. Highly recommended.
