Parallel Universe – The Decision [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain welcomes one of the progressive scenes freshest new duos to the label in Parallel Universe. Haling from Medellin, Colombia, Ethereal Mist and Mauro Pierotti make up the Parallel Universe production duo. Fresh off an outstanding contribution to Clubsonca’s ADE Sampler the duo now make their Stellar Fountain debut alongside remixes from Iokhonda and Christian Monique.

For those unfamiliar with Parallel Universe’s ‘Mirror’, it highlighted Clubsonica’s ADE Sampler with a fresh, fiery take on progressive music which quickly found favour with Guy J. Now presenting their latest production ‘The Decision’ they continue to showcase fresh ideas and impeccable production skills. It’s buzzing energy is immediately infectious with crunchy design and rolling rhythms carrying the first act to new found emotional planes. Dark tones, mystical atmospheres and a compelling vocal narrative dominate the break, before waves of drums and sinister stabs propel the beats further into the cosmos.

Both remixes complement the original quite nicely with Iokhonda being the first up. The Spanish artist is making his Stellar Fountain debut following releases on Beat Boutique, ICONYC and Superordinate Music. For his ‘The Decision’ interpretation Iokhonda ups the tempo and drive while chopping the vocal elements into slightly less distinct, almost subversive messages, before fading to greater prominence during the break. It’s a monumental centrepiece, complete with drama, tension and moments of underlying emotion, all of which perfectly set up a massive build and powerful finale. Big remix from Iokhonda.

The release concludes with Christian Monique returning to the label following his ‘Eterea’ EP from July of this year. The Italian artist complements the previous two versions with a deeper, dreamier take which highlights the vocal narrative amidst mallet like clusters and celestial atmospheres. Reflective and thought provoking it proves to be the perfect conclusion to a massive release from Stellar Fountain with Parallel Universe being a duo to start following if you are a true progressive house connoisseur.
