The inaugural release from Guateque Music finds label boss Hot TuneiK unveiling his much anticipated 'Guateque Nights' EP. The Mexican artist has been a fixture of the progressive music underground for well over a decade. A beloved DJ in his country's nightlife, Diego Carreon Zuñiga aka Hot TuneiK has shared the stage with Guy J, Nick Warren, Henry Saiz, Joel Mull, Guy Mantzur, Anja Schneider, Sharam, D-Nox and Alex Niggemman. As a producer his groovy, organic sound has landed him releases on Balkan Connection, Clubsoncia Records, Or Two Strangers and Proton Music, while earning play and support from progressive music icon's Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now launching his Guateque Nights imprint in style, Hot TuneiK presents a two track EP alongside remixes from Antrim and Kamilo Sanclemente.

Beginning with the title selection, Hot TuneiK crafts one of the best productions of his career. Deep, pulsating and full of his distinctive rhythms, it sets the tone not only for the EP but also the sound of Guateque Music. Layers of drums descend over a warm, undulating groove, as sleek electronics and phasing vocals flow through the framework. Meditative yet powerful, the main break elevates mood through clustered artefacts and a rising wall of noise, before eventually dropping out into the groove for a free flowing finale.

The companion piece finds Hot TuneiK collaborating with one of India's finest progressive music duo's Nosh & SJ. Making their name as DJs at Mumbai’s trendiest nightclubs, Nosh & SJ have also risen as producers with releases via Balkan Connection, Eat My Hat Music and Juicebox Music. Now pairing with Hot TuneiK, the trio present their first collaboration entitled 'Beyond The Skies'. Both artists are beloved for their pronounced rhythmic themes and their creative synergy has elevated that sentiment here. It’s swing-heavy energy is undeniable, with chugging grooves and rolling percussion setting the foundation for a haunting harmonic theme. An astral arp sparkles across the first act, playing off the darker underbelly, before icy pads add the perfect emotional touch leading into a thumping finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Guateque Nights' is provided by Kamilo Sanclemente. The Colombian artist has been enjoying the most prolific year of his career. Regarded as a premiere progressive house talent, the Cali resident has found a home on Anjunadeep, Balance Music, Beat Boutique, Plattenbank and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now lending his skills to Hot TuneiK's new label venture, Kamilo crafts a powerful take on 'Guateque Nights'. Taking a rhythmic cue from the original, Kamilo adds greater emotional depth to the piece with a colourful blend of atmospherics. A heartfelt break sits at the core of the journey, highlighted by muted pianos and emotive chord changes which perfectly set up an exhilarating finale act.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of 'Beyond the Skies' is Antrim. Much like Kamilo, the Argentinean artist and Or Two Strangers label boss is having his best year on record. Projects with Interaxxis and Alex O’Rion have led to releases on Cid Inc’s Replug Records and Roger Martinez’s Higher States, along with solo outings for Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records. Also laying claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, Antrim continues a strong year with a deadly rendition of 'Guateque Nights'. Firmly geared towards a peak time dance floor, the Cordoba resident works metallic motifs and frayed percussion over a layered beats and a dark, pulsating groove. Relying heavily on rhythmic drive across the first act, the narrative shifts during the main break, offering a moment of calm as indistinct harmonics eventually melt down into the menacing groove for a rousing drop. A huge remix from Antrim which caps off a massive first offering for Hot TuneiK's Guateque Music. It's a promising beginning for the Mexican imprint, who deliver one of the year's best progressive house releases here. Highly recommended.
