Fractal Architect & Dan Baber team up for the latest release on Stellar Fountain. Hailing from the UK, the duo have been frequent studio partners since their first collaboration for Method Records in 2015. The duo now presents the two track ‘Spheres’ EP for their Stellar Fountain debut (Fractal Architect has appeared previously solo) alongside remixes from Mashk and Max Cue.

The melodic sounds of ‘Hydrosphere’ gets the EP underway. Dreamy and delicate, the production is finely detailed with intricately layered percussion sitting perfectly over a bed of warm beats and bassy swells. The evolution of track is quite subtle and oh so satisfying, gently developing with timely transitions and soft overlays. Definitely a beauty for late night headphone listening. The companion piece ‘Litosphere’ ups the tempo quite a bit and the dreamy designs while still prevalent are scaled back a touch. A tougher, groovier low end definitely brings it closer to the dance floor than ‘Hydrosphere’ while the sparsely placed melodies add a unique charm.

There are two remixes of ‘Hydrosphere’ beginning with Mashk who is making his label debut.
The French artist owns an impressive discography with appearances on Manual Music, Parquet Recordings and Steyoyoke. His Stellar Fountain debut has turned out wonderfully as he strips the track down for a more dance floor inspired affair. Punchy kicks and dynamic percussion set the piece in motion as a wave of sonic decay and subtle atmospheric shifts advance the narrative. Evolving soundscapes add a melancholic vibe leading into the second act before the main melodies appear for a classy finale.

The second and final interpretation of 'Hydrosphere' is provided by Stellar Fountain artist Max Cue who returns to the label for his third appearance. The Belgian artist had a good year in 2017, highlighted by releases on Clinique Recordings, Lowbit Records, Manual Music and Stellar Fountain. Now presenting his first production of 2018 Max returns to Stellar Fountain with a great rendition of 'Hydrosphere'. Sleek and classy is the order of the day here with creamy, rippling grooves and stunning electronics. The long looping chord changes are warm and emotive, setting up an even more heartfelt break and very quick and clever drop. Awesome stuff from Max and likely one of Stellar Fountain's best releases this year. Don't miss it.
