Platon (RU) – Tezos [SLC-6 Music]

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music closes out the month of June by welcoming Platon (RU) back to the label for a new single. As one of his country's most recognized progressive house producers, Russian artist Platon has had a strong five-year run. Arey, Eternal Beats and Stellar Fountain's Black division have served as homes for his nostalgic take on the progressive genre. However, the Moscow resident's greatest successes have come courtesy of SLC-6 Music, where he has released four well-received single's across the last eighteen months, the most recent of which was 'Ag 47' from April of this year. Now, continuing his creative partnership with SLC-6, Platon (RU) returns to the label with 'Tezos', alongside remixes from Olven, Va O.N.E, Home Shell and Rodri XXX.

With 'Tezos' Platon (RU) has found a nice balance between progressive house and melodic techno. Built around a stripped, punchy and highly rhythmic groove, it's a series of billowing stabs and mysterious vocal fragments which ultimately fuel this electric mid-set affair. Returning to the label for the first remix is Olven who makes her fifth SLC-6 appearance. The Russian talent adds considerable drive and energy to 'Tezos', all while creating an atmospheric narrative which acts as a perfect backdrop for wavy arps and hip-swinging percussion to provide an enduring rhythmic theme. Next up and making his label debut is Va O.N.E. who arrives following releases via Balkan Connection's BC2. Noted for his dark and minimal style, the Siberian artist adds his own unique slant to 'Tezos', stripping the track down and utilizing a series of metallic effects and paranoid sensibilities for a harrowing audio experience. As a SLC-6 stalwart, Home Shell has been a part of the last three Platon (RU) label projects, adding his own inimitable touch and now returning once again to remix 'Tezos'. The Russian artist keeps the darker mood from the original nicely intact, relying on orbiting effects and a minimal yet dynamic framework to fuel his journey into eerie sound design and cryptic breakdowns. The release concludes with Rodri XXX returning to the label following his remix of 'Ag 47' by Platon (RU) earlier this year. The Argentinian artist surveys a darker and more techno oriented monochrome here, upping the tempo and focusing on a peak time narrative complete with psy-tech inspired grooves and a healthy dose of pyrotechnic effects.
