The Belarus based artist is fresh off one of the year’s best EPs in 'Detektor', released courtesy of Cid Inc’s Replug Records in September. Also owning releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, Dmitry now presents his first original project for Transpecta alongside a remix from DJ San. The title and showcase piece ‘Charisma’ finds Dmitry going deep and dark for what results in a very impactful creation. Rugged synths, ominous vocal samples and crashing hits lay atop a rippling low end as a melodic storyboard begins to develop. It’s quite a unique piece in that you never really expect any emotive qualities out of it but the narrative does get there in quite spectacular fashion, building with electric pulses and transcendent melodies before peaking at around the five minute mark. The companion piece ‘Mountain’ begins with a stripped, punchy framework, highlighted by metallic designs and once again some timely dynamic hits. Storyboarded in a similar manner to ‘Charisma’ the track builds in waves as melodic hooks gradually open up and atmospheres rise, once again resulting in an electric apex around the five minute mark. Two unique creations which take the traditional ‘main break’ out of the equation for the most part and ultimately sit as some of Dmitry’s most clever work to date. The release concludes with DJ San providing the lone interpretation of ‘Mountain’. The Dutch artist is fresh of his chart topping ‘Cupola’ which received a remix from the one and only Jerome Isma-Ae. DJ San himself has a rich history in electronic music, achieving considerable acclaim having remixed Calvin Harris, Dash Berlin and Armin Van Buuren while playing some of the most prestigious events in the world, namely Sensation, Dance Valley, Tomorrowland and Creamfields. Here he rounds the release out with a tough, driving rework of ‘Mountain’ which complements the original wonderfully. Backed by a galloping groove, the parts get chopped up and used to great effect for an intense peak time vibe, buildingto a sonic sizzle before a final act of ethereal synth motifs take you into dreamier territory. A classy remix from DJ San which rounds out a must have release from Transpecta, perhaps one of their best all year. Highly recommended.
