Fazlen – Friday 6PM [Deepwibe Underground]

Fazlen makes his much anticipated debut on Deepwibe Underground with 'Friday 6PM'. Hailing from Colombo, the Sri Lankan artist has found a home on Baikonur Recordings, Lick My Lips and MTZ Records where his blend of deep and tech house has flourished. Now following a downtempo /electronica EP for Plusquam's Chillout division, Fazlen makes his much anticipated debut on Deepwibe Underground with 'Friday 6PM'.

Beginning with the title track Fazlen showcases the deep, dubby side of his studio repertoire. Anchored by a chugging, low slung groove it's rolling rhythmic core and esoteric vocal elements quickly captivate the senses. Effortlessly building across its six minute journey the main break strips the groove down for an expedition into spacey electronics and dubbed out tones.

The second selection 'Oasis' continues the journey with tasteful minimalism as a punchy groove and intricate percussion form it's tight framework. Ghostly electronics and quirky hooks are the order of the day here, advancing the narrative with a charming simplicity and ultimately moving your dance floor in the process.

The release concludes with 'Dead Melodies' which continues the deep, atmospheric ethos of the EP. Putting you in a tranquil state it's airy electronics and meditative themes dominate the first act. Unique sampling during the main break becomes quite captivating, shifting the narrative further into the unknown before pulling back at just the right moment to unleash the groove for a smooth finale. it rounds out three unique and inspired tracks from Fazlen, making him an artist to keep a close eye on going forward, while furthering Deepwibe Underground's rapidly growing roster of talented artists.
