Beat Boutique welcomes Armin Fonscha to the label with a new EP alongside remixes from Florian Kruse and label boss DJ Zombi. Hailing from Bayern, German artist Armin Fonscha first came to our attention last year with an EP on Dear Deer’s Black division. An EP on Natura Viva followed shortly thereafter and Armin quickly found a place in the electronic underground. Now making his much anticipated debut on Beat Boutique Armin presents his first EP of 2018 entitled ‘Abajour’.

Adept at a broad range of styles, Armin presents a cross pollinated melodic creation in ‘Abajour’ to lead the release off. It’s stripped, punchy groove sounds distinctly modern while it’s vibrant, cascading clusters are a delight for the senses. As the narrative evolves so to does it’s musicality, with gentle overlays and charming motifs complementing it’s well crafted break perfectly. The companion piece ‘Simbala’ comes in more progressive minded with a fuller groove and delightful chord stabs. A touch anthemic at points it sits well on the right side of cool as it’s deeper, meditative qualities win out in the end.

The lone interpretation of ‘Abajour’ is provided by Florian Kruse who makes his label debut here. The German artist has been highly prolific in recent years, racking up releases on Anjunadeep, Bedrock, Green, Poker Flat, Noir and Suara. Always a creative remixer, Florian works ‘Abajour’ into more of a progressive minded creation while staying true to the main themes from the original. There’s more of a dramatic tone here, particularly during the break which shifts from emotive to tense with the ease of a seasoned veteran. Definitely one your dance floor will remember after the night is over.

Rounding the release out is Beat Boutique label boss DJ Zombi who provides the lone interpretation of ‘Simbala’. Sitting as a perfect complement to the original, it’s deeper sensibility is warm and inviting. It’s spacious groove is smooth and mediative while vocal motifs, afro drums, icy pads and a striking tonal theme make for a hugely satisfying storyboard. One that should fit into a broad range of DJ sets and no doubt something you’ll be hearing a lot in the coming months. A great remix from Zombi which caps off another fresh sounding release from Beat Boutique. Highly recommended.
