Releases TEELCO – Xenon [Movement Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 12 hours ago 9 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Tash’s Movement Recordings opens the month of November by welcoming TEELCO back to the label for his debut solo EP. Based in Albania, TEELCO has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. Noted for his deep melodic sound, the Tirana resident first emerged on the strength of tracks for Balkan Connection's BC2 and Soundteller Records, making him a name to watch going forward. The next decade would see TEELCO further hone his craft and notch standout releases for Deep Down Music, Mango Alley, RKP and Univack, while earning the praise of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Mariano Mellino. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings, TEELCO made his label debut in resounding fashion alongside fellow countryman Maze 28 with the three-track showcase ‘Sense’. Now, returning to the label in solo capacity, TEELCO unveils his ‘Xenon’ EP, alongside remixes from Kostya Outta and Rudra. The crunchy melodic vibes of ‘Xenon’ set any preconceived ideas of TEELCO’s music aside, forecasting a darker underbelly in contrast to emotive chord changes. As somewhat of an extension of his previous experiments, TEELCO’s trance-inspired lead provides an enduring main theme, while a delightfully poignant final act is sure to cast a spell over the dancefloor. ‘Groove Odyssey’ follows in fine style and further cements TEELCO’s’s elusive vision. Punchy kick drums, prophetic effects and sci-fi vocals travel to the very edges, making for some of TEELCO’s most cutting edge sounds to date, while fragmented arps and a festival style break shift energy for the ultimate array of colour and texture. The third and final original ‘Dominator’ opts for a somewhat deeper approach, steering further into shadowy transgressions, while consciously withholding energy as grooves pulse and effects orbit, creating a tension that eventually gets resolved as a cascading lead elevates mood for a fiery finale. Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Xenon’ is Kostya Outta. On the success of early tracks such as ‘High Flyers’ and ‘Silence’, Kostya’s groovy melodic sound was born, making him a new breed of progressive house producer to watch going forward. A continued evolution in sound across the last three years has seen the Belarusian artist rise into one of the genre’s most in demand talents. World class DJs such as Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, D-Nox and more have been steadfast supporters along the way, while releases via Replug, Mango Alley, Proportion and Afterglow have been discography highlights. In a year that has already seen Kostya operate at his most prolific to date, he now adds Movement Recordings to his resume with a subversive take on ‘Xenon’. Staying true to the qualities of the original, but expertly reshaped and rearranged, Kostya applies some progressive pressure, which makes for a version that is percussive and rhythmic, with just the right amount of tension and atmosphere, the ultimate dancefloor weapon if you will. Returning to the label with the lone interpretation of ‘Groove Odyssey’ is Rudra. As one of India's longest running progressive house artists, Rudra has been a fixture of the genre's scene for well over a decade. First emerging in 2012, the Kolkata resident has steadily been making a name for himself with a string of well-crafted records that present a cutting edge sound. 3rd Avenue, aboriginal, Juicebox Music and Mango Alley have all been landing spots for Rudra's elusive sound, while he continues to earn support from progressive music's top tastemakers. Already a contributor to the Movement label collective, Rudra has appeared on the imprint’s Limited and primary divisions, the most recent of which was a contribution to the Technical Progress, Vol. 14 collection. Now, returning to the label for his first remix, Rudra puts an energetic twist on ‘Groove Odyssey’. Opting for a decidedly more straight forward approach, Rudra brings the production closer to the progressive house old school, with full rolling grooves, deconstructed vocals and a mature no frills arrangement.
