Sistersweet – Aether / Echoes of Sirens [Higher States]

Continuing a strong summer season, Roger Martinez's Higher States welcomes Sistersweet to the label for her debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Sistersweet first emerged in 2021, recording 'Bali River' alongside side progressive house phenomenon Kostya Outta. Released via Balkan Connection, the track would set the course for a successful solo career, one where the Moscow resident would add La Foresta, Time After Time and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden to her discography, in turn earning praise from genre tastemakers Cid Inc, DJ Ruby, Emi Galvan and Ezequiel Arias, amongst others. Also highly regarded as a DJ, Sistersweet not only hosts her own weekly radioshow 'LUCH i SVETA' via Russia's popular Megapolisnight station, but is also well travelled, having performed from Ibiza to Sri Lanka to the far east. With 2024 already being highlighted by 'Cosmic Love', her debut for Time After Time, Sistersweet now adds Higher States to her resume with 'Aether / Echoes of Sirens'.

'Aether' gets the release underway and sits as one of Sistersweet's most engaging productions to date. Tight kick drums and smooth contoured grooves set the foundation for a narrative of fluttery percussive arrangements and youthful melodies. Pushing a daytime mood into the break; Sistersweet marries emotive themes with trailing sonics and soulful vocal fragments to great effect, building anticipation and emotion with each successive pass, as a tactful build eventually gives way to a thumping drop and blissed out finale.

The companion piece 'Echoes of Sirens' acts as a perfect complement with its cosmic yet club-effective sound. Looking to bring even stronger musicality to her portfolio, Sistersweet flexes her melody crafting prowess once again, with a whimsical top line adding youthful exuberance to a sturdy dancefloor groove. The main break proves to be impactful, flowing through breakbeat rhythms and cascading melodies, expertly intertwined for maximum emotional response, before tight beats and balmy musical co-actions unite for a gorgeous finale that's sure to leave long lasting memories on all the daytime dancefloors this summer season.
