Sundrej Zohar – Antithesis [Eat My Hat Music]

Ziger's Eat My Hat wraps up a strong spring season by welcoming Sundrej Zohar back to the label for a new single. Based in Germany, Sundrej Zohar first emerged on the strength of his 'Breakdancer' and 'Black Sun' EPs in 2019. Immediately recognized for his melodic sound, the Saarbrücken resident would go on to record projects for Area Verde, Freegrant Music, Pillar and UV Noir, amongst others. A creative partnership was established with Eat My Hat in June of the last year with Sundrej's label debut, a well-received remix of 'Proton' by Axel Giova. Now, in a year that has seen Sundrej be at his most creative and prolific to date, the German artist returns to Eat My Hat for his first single 'Antithesis', alongside a remix from Noise Generation.

The original mix gets the release underway and sits as one of Sundrej's most engaging productions to date. Tight kick drums and a crunchy groove set the foundation for a narrative of wonky synth mutations, prophetic overlays and deconstructed vocals. Pushing an energetic mood into the break; Sundrej marries tranquil arps with phasing vocals and growling sonics to great effect, building anticipation and emotion with each successive pass, as a sharp build eventually gives way to a thumping drop and hypnotic finale.

The release concludes with Noise Generation returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Antithesis'. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Noise Generation first emerged a year ago with a series of releases for Sounds and Frequencies Recordings. Noted for his nostalgic progressive sound, the Colombo resident would go on to compile an impressive resume across the next year, landing key releases via Balkan Connection's BC2, Eternal Beats and One Of A Kind. Eat My Hat would also be a landing spot for the talented newcomer, making his label debut earlier this year with 'Revolution', a track co-produced with Argentinean talent Javier Roman. Now, fresh off a contribution to Timeless Moment's 'Exoplanetary' collection, Noise Generation returns to Eat My Hat for his first remix, taking 'Antithesis' into progressive territory. Bringing a groovy state of mind, the Sri Lankan carefully balances the themes from the original with his own character-rich sound. Timely effects and wispy atmospheres steal the air atop thunderous beats and chunky grooves; while a tastefully twisted break furthers melodic appeal, and in turn sets up a club-effective finale to round out the release in style.
