Radieux – Here Comes the Storm [Soundteller Records]

The latest release from Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Radieux to the label for his debut EP. With well over a decade’s worth of DJ experience, Slovenian born artist Radieux has been a fixture at some of the world’s premiere clubs and festivals, sharing the stage with John Digweed, Nick Warren, Solomun and more. Upon creating the Radieux alias in 2019, the fast rising artist took his melodic sound to Artessa Music and Chrom Recordings with great success. 2023 has proved to be a breakout year for the Slovenian artist with recent projects for DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique and Ziger's Eat My Hat Music. Now, adding Soundteller to his resume, Radieux debuts on the label with 'Here Comes the Storm'.

Beginning with the title selection, Radieux crafts a deeper slice of progressive house that’s nicely dialled for midset action. Played out over seven plus minutes, its rolling groove, smooth rhythms and effervescent percussive arrangements come together for amazing moments across the first act. Plush chord stabs and balmy pads expand the narrative across the main break, bringing emotive qualities into the mix, before tasteful modulation and a classy build cues a smooth finale.

The release concludes with ‘Flight Above’ which continues the tranquil motifs which made its predecessor such a great listen. Emotive in essence, chirpy chord stabs and colourful atmospheres play out over a warm pulsating groove, while a timely break builds anticipation through clustered pianos and textural phrasing, the latter of which builds into a gentle vortex onwards to a heady conclusion. It caps off an excellent two-track showcase from Radieux, an artist who continues to rise in the world of progressive house.
