Rikken – Rosette Nebula [Soundteller Records]

Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Rikken back to the label for his third project 'Rosette Nebula'. Based in Berlin, the German artist made his debut on the Polish imprint in 2020 with ‘Frozen World’, a two-track showcase which paved the way for 2021's 'Blue Moon'. Another Life, BCSA, Dynamica, Future Avenue and Soundteller affiliate Provider Music have also served as a home for Rikken's progressive sound across the year. Now following a remix for Nikko.Z's Dopamine White, Rikken returns to Soundteller with 'Rosette Nebula', alongside remixes from Bynomic and Paul Hamilton.

Timeless in style, Rikken’s Original version sets the tone with warm grooves and intoxicating atmospheres. A storyboard of bubbly bass tones, neatly manicured percussion and buoyant rhythms continue to build the narrative, eventually revealing a wave of hazy harmonics which carries into the main break. As the centrepiece evolves so does its emotive appeal, with nostalgic chord changes and pixie-like melodies descending over a bed of warm bass tones, before a tasteful build sparks a classy drop and suitably stirring finale.

First up on the remixes is Swiss artist and Another Life Music boss Bynomic. No stranger to the label with this being his second appearance, the Zurich resident dials in an impressive rendition of 'Rosette Nebula'. Opting for a deeper, more trippy approach, the Swiss artist focuses on a strong rhythmic narrative, with layers of hip-swinging percussion and buoyant tonal themes fueling its infectious drive. Clocking in at just over a minute in length, the main break resonates with great strength, juxtaposing shape shifting effects over percussive trails and warm sub bass, before a glowing swell propels the journey on wards to a driving finale.

Rounding out the release with the second and final remix is Soundteller artist Paul Hamilton. Now making his sixth appearance on the label, the Malta born, Dubai based producer comes off a single for Deepwibe Digital and delivers a delicious progressive version of 'Rosette Nebula'. Classically styled, Paul ups the tempo a touch here, while keeping the strong atmospheric presence that was so predominant in the original. Years of time behind the decks show Paul's keen dance floor vision with a break that's short enough not to lose a crowd and with enough tension to make the drop a worthy pay off. Excellent stuff from Paul as usual, which caps off a great return to Soundteller for himself, Bynomic and Rikken. Don't miss it.
