Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Nacres back to the label for his debut EP. Having appeared on the label’s Vibrant Vibeland #10 collection in May of this year, the Turkish artist established a bond with the Polish imprint, eventually leading to a remix for fellow countryman Sinan Arsan in September. Continuing to perfect his percussive melodic sound, Nacres now returns to Soundteller for his first EP entitled 'Circus'.

Beginning with the groovy sounds of 'Broken' you get a sense that Nacres has once again made production strides. Tastefully melodic; it’s warm beats, chugged low end and exotic drums place it somewhere between organic and progressive house. Meandering melodies, dark stabs and gaseous effects create a surreal narrative across the first act, before smooth chord changes and a cosmic sounding break shift energy into a heads down finale.

The tempo and drive shift up a touch with the second and also title cut 'Circus'. A strong drum section and well carved groove give it a massive sense of space early on. Esoteric overlays then shift the mood further into otherworldly territory, eventually leading to the main break. Surreal and tripped out, the centrepiece draws you in further as icy pads rise on wards into a percussive drop and groovy final act.

The release concludes with ‘Crime’ which furthers the driving, organic mood of the EP. Anchored by a sightly fuller groove, it’s lively drums and buzzing effects resonate beautifully against a backdrop of drifting atmospheres and arpeggiated fragments. The drums really stand out, adding bounce and drive across the first act, as a playful melodic narrative builds into the break. Shifty harmonics and distinctive vocal samples highlight the centrepiece, eventually setting the stage for rolling drums and a powerful drop which takes you home. It rounds out a fresh EP from Nacres, who makes a solid return to Soundteller, making his first artist EP for the label some of his strongest work to date. Highly recommended.
