Ri Za – Sitting On A Triangle [One Of A Kind]

One Of A Kind makes a quick turnaround with a new single from Ri Za this week. With label boss Jelly For The Babies releasing his 'Orionis' single just last week the imprint now carries that momentum into a wicked release from Slovakian artist Ri Za alongside remixes from Matias Chilano and Marten Sundberg. 

There are a long line of underrated artists in the electronic underground and sitting at the top is Ri Za. He's someone that always brings unique and slightly left of centre ideas which are really refreshing. 'Sitting On A Triangle' does just that with its driving, funky and moderately warped groove. Mysterious vocals, clap delays and quirky hooks make for an eventful first act. An expertly crafted second act is striking, with tonal tension building anticipation before getting washed away in favour of the funky low end. Should be a great moment on the dance floor and an all round great track from Ri Za once again.

The remixer selection here is nothing short of amazing with Matias Chilano and Marten Sundberg delivering two excellent interpretations. First up is one of Argentina's finest Matias Chilano with his smooth, atmospheric yet infinitely groovy style. Sleek and detailed it's a mix that moves through playful rhythmic structures as trailing effects and timely drum fills light up the atmosphere. Making the most out of the great parts, Matias crafts a memorable break with just enough drama to make the restrained drop all the more powerful. 

Closing the release out is Marten Sundberg who is making his debut on the label. The German artist has found a home on Kompakt, Chapter 24, Manual Music and Sound Avenue. Known for his detailed productions Marten has once again worked some magic into his 'Sitting On A Triangle' remix. Organic percussion, fluid rhythms and an evolving storyboard make for a great beginning while a smooth energy bridge crosses planes into a trippier third act finale. Heady music from Marten and a top release from One Of A Kind, perhaps one of their best all year. Highly recommended.
