Michael A – Cyclus [Specific Music]

The latest release from Yegor Tsarkov’s Specific Music welcomes Michael A back to the label for a new single. The Belarus based artist is fresh off a remix for DJ Zombi's "Summer Run' while also laying claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Cid Inc's Replug Records and his own Genesis Music imprint. Now making a welcome return to Specific Music, Michael presents 'Cyclus' alongside a remix from Tech D.

With a sonic palette that covers both the darker and more melodic aspects of progressive house, sometimes Michael manages to get a wonderful amalgamation of both. Such is the case with 'Cyclus' which operates on a darker, chugging underbelly while musical fragments eventually shift the narrative into something a bit more joyous and uplifting. It's a unique contrast and one which makes for a stellar seven minute journey. Guy J fans take note, this is very much in vein of something the Lost & Found boss might feature in his sets.

The release concludes with Tech D returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'Cyclus'. The Ukrainian artist has found a comfortable home on Specific with this being his third appearance. Now following a remix for Balkan Connection in May, Tech D lands back on the Russian imprint for another inspired rework. Making great use of the main themes, the Ukrainian artist opens up the groove a touch and adds a unique effervescent design quality. Crunchy stabs play off the rolling low end perfectly while percussive waves keep that charged momentum flowing. A lovely remix from Tech D which rounds out another excellent offering from Yegor Tsarkov’s Specific Music. Don't miss it.
