Tomi H – Melting Through [SLC-6 Music]

The latest offering from D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music finds the label presenting new interpretations of 'Melting Through' by Tomi H. Originally released in August of 2019 as part of the label's popular 'SIX: Stage-2' collection, it's tough beats and emotive melodies charmed DJs and fans alike, proving once again what an exceptional talent Tomi has become. Now bringing new life to the much-loved track, SLC-6 Music invites Kenan Savrun and Axel Zambrano to re-imagine the production for 2022.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Melting Through' is Kenan Savrun. The Turkish artist has compiled an impressive resume since arriving on the progressive scene in 2019. Releases via Droid9, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Soundteller Records sit prominently in his discography, while his near two-decade long career as a DJ has seen him share the decks with Alex Niggemann, Artbat, Cid Inc, Nick Warren and Oliver Huntemann. No stranger to SLC-6 Music, Kenan delivered two remixes for the label across 2021, one of which sits firmly atop his Beatport best sellers' chart. Now making a welcome SLC-6 Music return, the Ankara resident dials in a thrilling rendition of 'Melting Through'. Taking a cue from the original, Kenan crafts a fluid groove and rolling rhythmic core. Gaining momentum across the first act, the piece flows through layers of meditative arps and detailed percussive arrangements, before shifting energy into a haunting break. Otherworldly in nature, its hypnotic state of mind melts down into a wave of trance-inducing arps and sweeping effects, percolating with each successive loop, before a timely drop reveals the pulsating groove for a magical dance floor moment.

The release concludes with Axel Zambrano returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Melting Through'. Although early into his career as a producer, the Argentinean artist has already made an impact on the progressive music scene. As a DJ he has shared the stage with Ezequiel Arias, Fabri López and Matias Chilano at some of his country's most highly regarded venues. While as a producer, Axel lays claim to an impressive discography highlighted by releases via Dopamine White, Droid9, Freegrant Music and Strangers Beats. SLC-6 Music has also served as a landing spot for Axel, with a well received remix of 'Scent of Water' by Juan Ibanez coming in January of 2021. Now returning for a second project, Axel delivers a powerful take on 'Melting Through'. Engaging from the outset, momentous kicks and rhythmic pulses converge for a fluid foundation, while driving percussion and hazy atmospheres bring texture to the groove. Building a cosmic narrative across the first act, astral motifs and wintry overlays unite for reflective moments leading into the break. The centrepiece continues to delight with its clustered melodies rising amidst a cloud of shimmering arrays, before a tasteful build sparks a heady final movement. A stunning interpretation from Axel, which rounds out an excellent remix edition for 'Melting Through' by Tomi H.
