Memo Rex – Vulcan [Sol Selectas]

Memo Rex is an American artist who produces music in a wide range of styles, but his new release, Vulcan is a four-track organic house EP that’s out on Sabo’s record label Sol Selectas.

Vulcan features organic tracks that have Afro percussion, dreamy melodies and deep atmosphere. Three of the tracks are solo works, and there is also a collaboration with PALOMA..

PALOMA. is known for her music on the likes of Lee Burridge’s record label TRYBESof, and she has also collaborated with others including Jim Rider.

The EP’s title track “Vulcan” opens the release with snare rolls and congas that create an Afro house groove, while Latin vocals and tense string melodies enchant the listener.

“Muladhara” is the track made with PALOMA., and it’s another percussive Afro house track. Ambient bird sounds and other rainforest atmospherics transport the listener to exotic lands, where tribal drums merge with the natural surroundings of nature.

Track three, “Vesta” will likely be the standout track on this release for some, as it marks the releases switch to organic house. It’s got a softer and more introverted sound, with a beautiful piano wrapped in ethereal atmospherics and nestled on a deep bassline.

“Resonance” brings the release to a close with an organic house groove, which has dreamy synths and uplifting percussion underpinned by melodic bass chords. The track is signified by an extended breakdown that builds atmospheric suspense before a flamenco guitar strum reintroduces the drums in dramatic fashion.
