Francis James – Invictus [So Deep Recordings]

The latest release from So Deep Recordings finds label boss Francis James back in the spotlight with a new single. Born in the USA but now based in Germany, Francis boasts a long and storied history in electronic music. Well accomplished as a DJ, he has shared the stage with Alex M.O.R.P.H and Armin Van Buuren’s legendary trance vocalist—Susana, while playing venues all across the US, including the Miami Music Conference. Now following the well received singles 'Interstellar' and 'Red Moon', Francis returns to So Deep with the much anticipated 'Invictus'.

Already received praise from DJs pre-release, ‘Invictus’ finds Francis crafting a deep, hypnotic number. Backed by a warm, fluid foundation it’s perfectly contoured bass stabs provide copious amounts of swing. Layers of percussion and effervescent phrases give it a charming glow as melodic fragments begin to fill in the framework. Dreamy yet powerful, the centrepiece furthers the narrative with tasteful modulation and a billowing underbelly, eventually sparking a final act which is both heavenly and thought provoking. It continues what has been a great year for Francis and adds nicely to So Deep's impressive discography. Highly recommended.
