Felipe Garcia (UY) & Luciano Pelliza – Gravity Falls [Dopamine White]

Nikko.Z’s Dopamine White opens the month of October by welcoming Felipe Garcia (UY) and Luciano Pelliza to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Uruguay and inspired by Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Sasha, Felipe Garcia has an innate ability to tell a story within his brand of progressive music. Although just three years into his production career, long standing imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Balkan Connection, Deep Down Music and Droid9 have been a landing spots for Felipe’s progressive sound, as he continues to establish his place amongst the genre's rising talents. Meanwhile, hailing from Argentina, Luciano Pelliza has emerged from his country’s progressive house scene as an artist to watch. A pair of releases in 2022 via Transensations and Or Two Strangers affiliate Strangers Beats brought attention to the talented Cordoba resident, a rising force who had firmly established a groovy yet melodic take on the genre. Moving forward, the next two calendar years proved to be huge for Luciano, as he built on that early momentum with a consistent and more prolific release schedule, one highlighted by projects for Deep Down Music, Droid9, Mango Alley and Or Two Strangers, amongst others. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Felipe and Luciano debut on Dopamine White with ‘Gravity Falls’, alongside a remix from Enzo Paradiso & Felipe Gurascier.

Beginning with the original mix, the duo's craftsmanship reveals itself in what is a deep retro production aimed squarely at the dancefloor. A DJ friendly intro sets the pace for billowed chord stabs and flickering percussive arrangements to layer a tough, rolling bassline. Carving out a smooth path into the break, it’s a series of vocal fragments which prelude an emerging melody, resulting in a strong emotional response. As the interlude melts down to a quiet calm, anticipation is high, with balmy atmospheres and muted melodies eventually revealing further vocal deconstructions, before segueing into a groovy, key-changing finale.

Rounding out the release with the lone interpretation of ‘Gravity Falls’ is Enzo Paradiso & Felipe Gurascier. Hailing from Uruguay, both Enzo and Felipe have achieved measurable success across their respective careers. Their discographies are highlighted by releases via Mango Alley, MNL and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. Now paired together for Dopamine White, Enzo and Felipe debut on the label with an inspired take on ‘Gravity Falls’. Opting for a deeper approach, the duo marry shapely grooves and rolling percussion with flickering sonics and balmy atmospheres. Hopeful melodies and trance inducing textures take centrestage across the main break, bringing equal amounts of exhilaration and serenity, before clustered sonics and a gentle build spark a groove-centric drop and glowing finale.
