Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Tel Aviv, Ofri Gayus aka AroZe came up through the progressive underground with impressive releases on Plattenbank, Soundteller and Steyoyoke. Fans and contemporaries noted a distinctive sound and pristine polish to his creations making him one of the top newcomers of 2018. Now as the new year begins, AroZe debuts on ICONYC with a much anticipated two track EP. Often sitting comfortably between progressive house and melodic techno, AroZe's music tends to permeate both scenes quite effectively. The aptly titled and lead track 'Celestials' does exactly that with it's ultra modern details, crisp effects and percussive splashes. Ethereal in ethos yet remarkably tough and commanding, it's peak time sensibility can't be overstated. A spastic arp gradually opens up as the first act evolves, eventually initiating the main break and ultimately setting up a icy build and absolutely crushing drop. Hard to imagine how it could be any bigger, cue dance floor chaos. The companion piece 'Berserkers' follows a similar sonic ethos but is perhaps a touch more introspective at points. Vocal elements add an air of mystery early on as before an astral arp and grungy stabs up the dramatic content tenfold. The vocal narrative expands during the break, offering thought provoking moments as waves of synths create a cosmic air before ushering the groove for an electric finale. It rounds out two unabashedly epic creations from AroZe who appears to be set for a highly memorable 2019.
