Hailing from Russia, Meeting Molly first emerged in 2019 with an EP via Amsterdam based powerhouse Songspire. Deep and dreamy across three tracks, it set the course for what has been a remarkable four-year stretch. Beloved for his progressive minded approach, Meeting Molly would quickly build an impressive resume, notching standout projects for Juicebox Music, Meanwhile, Sound Avenue and Mango Alley, the latter of which would become his primary home. Now, capping off what has been a prolific 2023, Meeting Molly debuts on Higher States with ‘Overlook / Last Generation’. The charming sounds of ‘Overlook’ lead the release off and are an apt barometer of where Meeting Molly’s headspace is at; forecasting panoramic synths with layers of cleverly co-axed percussion, groovy basslines and alluring overlays. Moving effortlessly across the first movement, its pulsating rhythms and enlightening themes emerge in sequential fashion, travelling to the edge of a bucolic hinterland. Fully realized across a timely break, Meeting Molly's mesmerizing melodies and tranquil tones marry beautifully, consciously withholding energy as emotion rises, before segueing into a glowing, mood-lifting finale. The EP’s second and final selection ‘Last Generation’ continues the dreamy tone set by its predecessor. Smooth, effortless and full of serene energies, it's a creation built around meditative melodies and temperate harmonies.
