To Ricciardi & Dope (PT) – Infinito [Flow Vinyl]

The latest release from Pena's resurgence Flow Vinyl welcomes To Ricciardi and Dope to the label with 'Infinito'. Widely regarded as a pioneer for electronic music in Portugal, To Ricciardi has been an integral part of the scene since his early releases on Tribal America and Kaos in the 1990's. Also a well known figure in the Portuguese underground is Dope who has been pushing his brand of melodic house and techno for the better part of a decade. Having worked together once previously on a single for Sururu Records, To Ricciardi & Dope now land on Flow Vinyl for their second ever collaboration entitled 'Infinito'.

Beginning with the Life Shifting Mix, the duo explores a gorgeous blend of organic drums and charming musicality. Warm beats and layers of exotic percussion set the foundation for a narrative of soulful themes and luminous motifs. Plush overlays then drift over the framework for emotive moments, before melting to a captivating centrepiece complete with Mel's spoken word vocal narrative. Spiritual and heady in equal measure, it sets the course for a classy drop and quirky, contemporary final act. For the less vocally included there is also a 'Dub' version included which adds an abundance of trippy effects and astral sounding themes, for what ultimately results in an eight minute journey full of amazing texture and colour. Hard to go wrong with either version here and the more creative DJs may find a way to blend both in fact. Highly recommended.
