Saintbull – Every Piece of You [Polyptych]

Continuing a strong start to the year, Polyptych welcomes Saintbull to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina but now based in Spain, Saintbull first emerged in 2013 with a string of releases via Istmo Music. Focused on more of a commercial sound at the time, Saintbull eventually looked for new creative avenues, overhauling his sound into something more contemporary. It was this balance of melody and groove that saw Saintbull excel going forward, notching impressive outings for Aletheia Recordings and Freegrant Music. Now continuing on an upwards trajectory, Saintbull debuts on Polyptych with a two-track showcase entitled 'Every Piece of You'.

On the title selection Saintbull collaborates with vocalist Ruben Gauna for a deep and soulful slice of progressive house. The Argentine's production hallmarks are immediately evident with warm, mountainous bass anchoring hazy atmospheres and dreamy tonal themes. This colourful drive perfectly sets the stage for soulful vocal phrases and poignant pianos to add further depth and a unique melancholic mood leading into the break. Concise at under a minute in length, the interlude presents a heartfelt soundscape of symphonic motifs, flowing through a gradual build onwards to a tasteful effects-laden drop and vocal-infused finale. For the less vocally inclined there is also a dub included as well.

The companion piece ‘Withania Somnifera’ rounds out the release in fine fashion. Well in line with the previous selection with its fluid, melodic style; it’s a marriage of warm wavy grooves and panning percussive arrangements which set the stage for soulful instrumentation to carry the first act. Once again, the main break is set to delight dance floors with its heartfelt synth phrasing and uplifting piano stabs, perfectly setting a nostalgic mood before shifting energy into a tastefully restrained DJ friendly outro. Emotionally stirring, it rounds out another sensational release for Polyptych, a label who continues to add exciting new talent to their roster. Highly recommended.
