Onez!e – Colours [Superordinate Music]

The latest release on Superordinate Music welcomes Onez!e to the label for a brand new EP. The Canadian artist is fresh off an EP for Zephyr Music along with a remix for Julian Rodriguez's Massive Harmony Records. Now making his much anticipated debut for Superordinate Onez!e presents his brand new 4 track EP entitled 'Colours'. 

It's pretty rare in the progressive house world to see a full artist style EP like this. Releases are generally reserved for a single + remixes or two track EPs it seems so this is really a great showcase of what a top producer Onez!e is. Beginning with the light, playful and wonderfully melodic 'Azure' you're off on a journey of dreamy, enchanting motifs. Crisp production, a strong rhythmic core and cascading melodies stand out immediately but it's the breathy vocal and waning synths that really make this track the emotional masterpiece that it is. 'Jasper' meanwhile brings an even stronger dance floor sensibility with a chunky groove, billowing bass stabs and again a very strong melodic top line. A dark vocal adds nicely to a dramatic break before an energy bridge shifts the mood and you're taken away on magical melodic ride once again.

The EPs half way point is marked with the atmospheric 'Magenta'. A touch dreamier than the previous two cuts it begins with shimmering synths, meditative rhythms and warm, muted beats. The effects storyboard is really captivating with wispy electronics trailing through the framework, ultimately leading to a melancholic break. Perhaps one of the most heartfelt moments on the EP, it's slow emotive burn flows with a liquid like appeal into a spaced out third act. This leads nicely into the EP's closer 'Veridian' which is appropriately the most reflective track on the collection. Somewhat cinematic in feel, with an evolving storyboard and a healthy portion of mystical charm it's the break that steals the show and ultimately rounds out the release leaving you wondering what's coming next from Onez!e. A great signing from Superordinate and perhaps we'll see some remixes in the future. Highly Recommended.
