JFR – Gocru [Secret Feelings]

Secret Feelings continues a strong start to the year with a new single from label boss JFR. Hailing from Argentina but currently calling Spain home, Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of progressive and organic house, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Enjoying a steady rise since emerging 2017, it was 2021 which proved to be a breakout year for JFR, as the Argentine continued his upward trajectory with a standout release for UK behemoth Anjunadeep; a project which would lead to offerings via Clubsonica and Musique de Lune across the next calendar year, and in turn garnering support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sebastian Leger. 2023 would also bring newfound success for JFR, launching his Secret Feelings imprint in September with 'Anatonic', before ending the year with the critically acclaimed five-track showcase '21 Angels'. With January's 'The Last Queen' landing as JFR's first single of 2024, the Barcelona resident continues to impress with his latest Secret Feelings offering 'Gocru', alongside remixes from Fernando Ferreyra and Thales Senses.

Over the course of the last two years JFR's output has gotten progressively more elaborate, releasing traditional progressive, organic and even melodic house and techno, all with remarkable success. On his latest 'Gocru' he opts for an organic sound which has brought him support from genre heavyweights like Sebastian Leger in the past. 'Gocru' lands in impressive fashion once again, working through layers of fluttery vocal gates and misty melodies, all while a sturdy organic-style framework keeps the mood firmly locked on the dancefloor, whether that be under blue skies or panoramic main room visuals.

Another artist who has successfully shifted his traditional progressive house roots into organic territory is Fernando Ferreyra, an artist and DJ who has become synonymous with electronic music both in his homeland of Argentina and globally. The Dreamers label boss makes his Secret Feelings debut in grand fashion here, taking JFR's original and lowering the tempo a touch, utilizing his own array of exotic percussive elements, while a reshape of the vocal and a Mediterranean inspired lead melody ultimately paves the way for a journey that is equal parts groovy and emotional.

The release concludes with a second label debutant, Thales Senses who arrives following esteemed releases via Amulanga, Do Not Sit, Souksonic and The Soundgarden. With his previous productions favoured by Eelke Kleijn, Eli Nissan, Lost Desert and Shai T, the Paraguayan artist closes out the release with a deep emotional take on 'Gocru'. Thales makes great use of cascading chord stabs and wistful melodic lines which drift delicately in the background, while slowly building a smooth melodic tension that is bound to create some goosebump worthy moments on the dance floor. A perfect mood to cap off the release in style. Highly recommended.
