Releases Antrim – The Beginning Of The Dawn [Asymmetric Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 5th August 2017 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest from Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings welcomes Antrim back to the label for a brand new EP. The Argentinean artist last appeared on the Israeli imprint with a contribution to the label's 'Summer Aesthetics' collection in July of 2015. Now following releases on One Of A Kind and Sound Avenue Antrim makes his much anticipated return to the label alongside remixes from Kobb and Denny Loco. Antrim's latest, the summer flavoured 'When You Catch Me' showcased his most melodic attributes while the lead track here 'The Beginning Of The Dawn' comes in much deeper. It's organic groove has a lovely shuffle and the indistinct vocals and delicate motifs meld for a lovely sonic haze. The centrepiece has a mild cross-cultural mood which is quite lovely, before eventually breaking into a gorgeous third act finale. The companion piece 'Turn Around' is quite a contrast with its rougher edges and electric underbelly. Dark stabs, smooth chord changes and cosmic effects make for many dynamic moments, not the least of which is a spine tingling drop coming out of the break. The lone interpretation of 'The Beginning Of The Dawn' is provided by Kobb who is making his ninth appearance on the label. The Israeli artist has found a comfortable home on Asymmetric and he dials in another stellar production here. Taking a more tech house inspired route, Kobb ups the tempo a touch and toughens up the framework with dark electronics, tight beats and crisp drums. Quite haunting, it moves through a variety of intriguing effects and vocal elements, before a tension filled break brings the house down. Monster remix from Kobb. The lone interpretation of 'Turn Around' is provided by Denny Loco who is making his eighth appearance on the label. Danilo Pizzo aka Denny Loco hails from Italy and last appeared on the label with his 'Labirinto' EP, produced in conjunction with Giuseppe Polara. Now returning solo he takes 'Turn Around' into more techno inspired territory with tougher drums and a dark rhythmic core. For all of its dark themes though the middle section brings a moment of profound beauty, radiant synths rise up before a percussive rush brings a strong third act finale. Great remix from Denny and a superb offering from Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings once again. Don't miss it.
