VA O.N.E. – Desire [Deepwibe Underground]

The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes VA O.N.E. back to the label for a new single entitled 'Desire'. Having first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2017, the Russian artist has amassed an impressive discography. Releases on Another Life Music, Balkan Connection's BC2 and Clinique Recordings highlight his resume as he continues to perfect his deep hypnotic sound. Having recently made his label debut with the well received 'Afterdeath' single in October, the Russian artist now returns for a much anticipated follow-up alongside remixes from Marcus Caballero and Home Shell.

Beginning with the Original Mix VA O.N.E moves into dark, techno inspired territory with a tough, compact groove, crunchy rhythms and ominous overlays. Growling stabs and plonky tones advance the narrative, perfectly setting the stage for a short but tense break. The icy interlude serves to reset the groove and rhythmic flow of the track, nicely shifting energy into an electric drop and driving finale.

The first interpretation is provided by Marcus Caballero who returns to the label for his second appearance. The Russian artist made his Deepwibe Underground debut in October with 'Huracan'. The three track offering earned support and play from a long list of cutting edge DJs, most notably Gai Barone, Guy J and Nick Warren. Now returning to the label for his first remix Marcus dials in a stellar rendition of 'Desire'. Backed by a warmer, more spacious groove the Russian’s detailed drum work and swing heavy rhythms quickly appease the senses. A reprocessed take on the lead theme makes for a tripper, more cosmic feel, before the main break pushes emotion higher with an electric line that precedes an exhilarating conclusion.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Desire' is Home Shell. The Russian artist has been showcasing his tough brand of melodic house and techno via label's like Figura Music, Polyptych and Saudade Records, before making his Deepwibe Underground debut just last week with a remix of Alex Konstantinov's 'Fjord'. Now returning for a second remix in as many weeks, Home Shell brings his astral sound to 'Desire'. Engaging from the outset and a pre-release DJ favourite, its tough framework is crafted to perfection with fluid rhythms, striking stabs and hypnotic arps converging for a gorgeous free form story. Percussive delays and buzzing effects continue to add tension as the first act evolves, before a perfectly timed break of striking stabs sets up a smooth build and groovy finale. A brilliant remix from Home Shell which rounds out another must have release from Deepwibe Underground. Highly recommended.
