Twilight Music Sculpture – Morning Always Comes [Musique de Lune Noire]

Musique de Lune Noire opens their 2024 season by welcoming Twilight Music Sculpture to the label for his debut EP. Canadian artist Twilight Music Sculpture has been crafting a blend of deep, melodic and organic house from his Toronto studio, while also taking the city's dancefloor's on a journey. A 2021 debut via his Twilight Music imprint set the course for what has been a three-year creative swell of superlative releases. While keeping the majority of his output exclusive to his own imprint, he has also recorded projects for Amber Long's Modern Architect and most recently, Pedro Mercado's long-running Chrom Recordings, a single which got 2024 off to an impressive start. Now, continuing on an upwards trajectory, Twilight Music Sculpture adds Musique de Lune Noire to his resume with a two-track showcase entitled 'Morning Always Comes'.

Following on from some of his past releases Twilight Music Sculpture continues to focus on the retro-sounds from which he has built his career. Emotion is at a premium on both selections but it's the title cut 'Morning Always Comes' which ultimately sets the tone. Poignant chord changes, heartfelt melodies and hopeful vocal pads deliver a goosebump worthy first act leading into the break. Here, the Toronto resident introduces a cross-cultural vocal sample which marries well with the melodic structures that surround it, never over powering the mix, but rather adding an additional touch of magic to a free-flowing finale.

The companion piece 'Wake Up to a Dream' picks up the pace slightly, all while maintaining the retro-mood of it's predecessor. Soulful instrumentation carries the primary narrative, while tough beats and driving percussion set the course for another well-crafted break. Deconstructed vocals and a colourful coax of free flowing phrasing make for an emotive yet anticipatory build into a finale of feel-good panoramic arps, one which closes the release out leaving you wondering what will come next from the Canadian artist. Highly recommended.
