Based in Germany, 'Tantum' is trying to redefine the borders between forward-thinking melodic techno and progressive-house. Upon making his debut on Ein2 in 2018, the Berlin resident has gone on a six year creative swell, landing key projects via Bedrock, Juicebox Music, Lost & Found, Mango Alley and Meanwhile, amongst others; while earning praise from tastemakers across the melodic house and progressive spectrums. This week finds Tantum returning to Mango Alley for a remix of 'Vivid Imagination' by NOIYSE PROJECT & Bachir Salloum. To celebrate the release of his 'Vivid Imagination' remix, Tantum shares his current 10 favorite club tracks. Enjoy! Mike Griego, Scippo - Trapped Under Ice Deep and groovy track, definitely a highlight during the grungy parts of my sets. The dark and gritty vibe perfectly matches the track title. I’ve been loving the releases on Mike’s label ever since its launch, but this one definitely stands out. Scippo also has a great label worth checking out, I even did a remix there before. Robag Wruhme - Veddel Baav What a melter of a track! Insane sound design and creative arrangement on this one. I love mixing it with some percs running on another deck. On a proper sound system, this one really slaps! Sean Harvey - Spacialised (Kebin Van Reeken Remix) A very high-quality production, one of the standout tracks on Mango Alley for me this year! Super minimal yet full-sounding. It’s so good to play and mix. Kevin Van Reeken’s tracks, in general, have really stood out to me for that reason. Hyunji-A - Camino Torcido A deep and groovy track from Hyunji! I really love her unique vision of progressive house. Playing a lot of gigs together this past year has definitely exposed me to great music that wasn’t on my radar before. I’m even more excited about some of the IDs I’ve seen her play, so definitely keep an eye out for those as well! Simon Vuarambon - Prodiga An amazing track from Simon’s latest release on Moments. Simon’s music has been on my radar for a while, and after meeting him following my first gig in Argentina in 2022, we’ve been sharing music and even collaborated on Bedrock. I’ve played this track extensively during my recent gigs. It embodies the true essence of progressive music, building tension all the way to the main drop, where the detuned synth finally plays that pitched and detuned melody. What a moment! Always worth a spin. Guy J - Soul in Arp I was debating whether to feature his debut track “A Million Years From Now” for the new Early Morning label but ended up going with this one. A track from 2011 that still holds up today! It was such an amazing moment to see him play this track at this year’s ADE boat party. I’ve been playing it a lot, and it always works. Like many others, I’m very excited to see where the journey goes with Early Morning. Something fresh and new to look forward to in the prog world. Khen - Square Pusher An amazing track by Khen, again proving that good music will always stand the test of time (released in 2012). I love the progression of this track, it builds up in true progressive fashion, capturing the essence of the 2010 era of prog house. The progression in the break with the evolving bassline really hits the nostalgia. The groove, the beat, everything has aged so well in this track. Mike Rish - Cloudbreaker I love this intricate and groovy tune. It’s been a staple in my sets since it came out. The almost dystopian and dark feeling of the track, combined with the big, beautiful breakdown, hits just the right spots! Yaniq - Escape Zone A super unique blend of deep progressive sounds and melodic elements. Hearing this track always takes me back to the We Are Lost Festival 2023 in Córdoba, where I first played it. So deep and mysterious. Zehv, Essco - Nightcrawler I love the blend of stripped-down grooviness combined with old-school Pryda-style progressive vibes in this track. I’ve been playing it a lot recently. It always bumps up the energy. Tantum's 'Vivid Imagination' Remix is available now via Mango Alley: https://tinyurl.com/fjxds9xd
