Ran6dy – Heydee [Nature Rec]

Following on from the success of Havjers 'Mithrandir', Nature Rec welcomes Ran6dy to the label for his debut single. Hailing from the electronic music hotbed of Sri Lanka, Ran6dy first came to our attention in 2020 with a contribution to Balkan United's Novus, Vol. 8 collection. As the lead track on the release, it would set the stage for projects via Bonzai Progressive, Future Avenue and Superordinate Music across the next calendar year. 2022 has seen further successes for Ran6dy with a contribution to Sound Avenue's popular 'Correlation' series, which now sits as the Sri Lankan's most noteworthy release to date. Now, adding Nature Rec to his resume, Ran6dy debuts on the label with 'Haydee', alongside a remix from Alex Efe.

Picking up on the deeper progressive themes Ran6dy has become known for is 'Haydee'. Beginning with warm spongy beats and drifting atmospheres, it’s a fluid groove which serves as the vehicle for exotic drum elements and tantalizing arps to work their magic. Smooth and emotive throughout, its meditative nature plays perfectly over poignant chord changes and flickering percussion, before eventually melting down into the main break. Tasteful modulation and harmonic refrains makes for a memorable interlude, sure to captivate a dance floor while being concise enough to keep that rhythm locked for a groovy finale.

The release concludes with Alex Efe making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Haydee'. Releasing music for the better part of a decade, the Uruguayan artist lays claim to releases via Droid9, onedotsixtwo, Transensations Records and more, while top international DJs Hernán Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sahar Z and Ezequiel Arias more have championed his work. Now, making his Nature Rec debut, the Montevideo resident continues to impress with a gorgeous take on 'Haydee'. A beefed up percussion section and shape-shifting atmospheres provide magic early on as drive and momentum build. Smooth synth phrasing adds a unique musical narrative, not overt or obvious, rather drifting gently below the surface and slowly drawing you in across nine meditative minutes. A timeless rendition from Alex Efe which concludes another excellent release from Nature Rec, a label who continues to make fresh and inspired choices. Highly recommended.
