Radek K – Someone Like You [Soundteller Records]

Radek K returns to Deersky's Soundteller Records with new single 'Someone Like You'. Although having never appeared on the Polish imprint under solo Radek K alias, the Polish artist delivered an EP for the Polish imprint under his collaborative Sod Sogima moniker in December of last year. Now following releases for Dear Deer Dubs and Enormous Tunes, Radek K presents his first single for Soundteller alongside remixes from Gaston Ponte and Ronfoller.

Likely one of Radek's most unique tracks, 'Someone Like You' has enough distinctive elements to sit with you for some time. Deeper in design, it's a waning lead line that carries a modern sensibility across the first act. Creating tension with each successive loop, it eventually gives way for some emotional relief of sorts, as a pristine vocal drops during break, tastefully elevating the mood as buzzing electronics build a wall of melodic colour, before ushering the groove back in for a classy finale.

Returning to Soundteller for the first remix is Buenos Aires resident Gaston Ponte. The Argentinean artist has become a regular contributor to the Polish imprint since making his debut in November of 2017. Fresh off an EP and remix for Balkan Connection, Gaston now delivers another superb production with a fresh take on 'Someone Like You'. Although the tempo does shift up slightly the overall vibe is deeper and more musical than the original. The waning tones have been replaced with anthemic overlays, a tanatalizing arp and fragmented vocals, all which come together for a heartfelt break which ultimately highlights the piece.

The release concludes with another Soundteller alum Ronfoller returning for his sixth appearance. Hailing from Azerbaijan, the Baku resident is fresh off one of the biggest releases of his career, a contribution to Anjunadeep's Explorations 09 collection. Also laying claim to several releases on Spring Tube, Ronfoller now returns to Soundteller with a stunning interpretation of 'Someone Like You'. Tranquil synth swells, ghostly wails and exotic percussion operate in a perfect sonic marriage as the first act takes shape. This cosmic collage lays down a bed of emotive electronics, perfectly setting the stage for the full vocal and wavy arps to work their magic in a heartfelt break. A gorgeous rework from Ronfoller who continues to deliver some of his best work for Soundteller Records. It caps off a well rounded package for the Polish imprint once again, one that checks a lot of boxes under the progressive music umbrella. Don't miss it.
