Releases NOIYSE PROJECT & Pedro Capelossi – Phoenix Symphony (Remixed) [Droid9] By Release Promo Posted on 2nd February 2020 8 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release from Droid9 finds the label showcasing new interpretations of 'Phoenix Symphony' by NOIYSE PROJECT & Pedro Capelossi. Released in June of 2019 this heavyweight collaboration was a summer season highlight for the US imprint. Now seven months on the label invites Juan Pablo Torrez, Luciano Scheffer, Gabriel Amato and Juliane Wolf to re-imagine the track for 2020. Juan Pablo Torrez got his 2020 off to a great start with a remix alongside fellow countryman Kamilo Sanclemente. Released through his burgeoning Clubsonica imprint it once again showed just what a progressive music hotbed Colombia has become. Now presenting his first solo production of the year he turns in an extra large rendition of 'Phoenix Symphony'. The tempo and drive come up a few notches here for a remix that should fair very well at peak time. Being one of the more modern purveyors of the progressive sound, Juan has always relied heavily on rhythm and groove rather than big, obvious leads, and such is the case here with a nine minute journey that does more than enough to move a dance floor and just enough to keep the listener locked in. The tastefully restrained drop might be the highlight, coming out of an atmospheric break, it's just the thing to get a great reaction from a clued up dance floor. Next up is one of Brazil's finest Luciano Scheffer who had a great 2019 highlighted by a release on Antrim's Or Two Strangers imprint. The Ribeirão Pires resident works more magic here with a deeper, enchanting take on the track. Pulsating yet fluid, it’s smooth cadence builds momentum with each successive loop, as melodic fragments marry ghostly atmospheres while the narrative builds, before shifting energy into a more rhythmic final act. Fresh off a massive EP for Tash's Movement Recordings it's Gabriel Amato that delivers the third interpretation. Known for crafting darker more astral sounding progressive techno as well as traditional progressive house this is a production which sits firmly in the latter category. The buoyancy and roll which the foundation carries immediately grabs your attention. Fluid and groovy, it provides the perfect anchor for a narrative of melodious arps and nostalgic chord changes, the latter of which provide a unique emotional perspective on the track. The fourth and final interpretation of 'Phoenix Symphony' is provided by Juliane Wolf who makes her label debut. The German born, Netherlands based artist has had a prolific beginning to the new year having already released productions for Mirabilis Records and her own Wizarding Wolf imprint. Now making her first appearance on Droid9 Juliane provides an inspired take on 'Phoenix Symphony' to cap the release off in style. Taking a cue from the original Juliane delivers a headier rendition led by layers of exotic percussion and esoteric themes. Groovy and meandering in all the right ways it's chunky cadence and unpredictable lead motif makes for a very fresh sounding eight minute journey. A brilliant remix from Juliane which rounds out another superb offering from Droid9. Highly recommended.
