Hailing from Colombia, Nic Rinaldi first emerged in 2021 with a release via Madloch's Future Avenue. With a sound that finds a nice balance between progressive and organic house, the Medellin resident was quickly tipped as a producer to watch. The next two calendar years would see Nic continue to develop his sound, adding projects with 3rd Avenue and MNL to his discography. Also well regarded as a DJ, Nic has been a fixture of his country's nightlife since 2017, sharing the booth with international talents such as Quivver, Kevin Di Serna, Fernando Ferreyra, Oliver Koletzki and local heroes Juan Pablo Torrez, Najeys and Pao Calderon. Now, adding Mycelium to his resume, Nic makes a much anticipated debut on the label with 'Cosmic Frequencies', alongside a remix from NuFects. Mycelium shows in their artwork, the artist's feeling. This EP was inspired by everything related to space and the universe. EP opener 'Cosmic Frequencies' finds Nic operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by rhythm and groove; its warm hypnotic basslines and flickering percussive arrangements resonate on a transcendent level. Fluid and energetic across the first movement, Nic continues his stylized ways with wavy arps, emerging atmospheres and fluttery motifs creating a colourful path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in an emotive yet thought provoking space, arpeggiated sequences melt down into a calming vortex of melody and colour as the interlude evolves, eventually spearheading a rush of drums and groove-centric drop that is sure to command the attention of your dancefloor. Meanwhile, the companion piece 'Kepler' lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, as Nic reaffirms his progressive music prowess, planting multiple rushes of serotonin through charming melodies, exotic drums and balmy atmospherics. Clever co-actions make for a break that is both poignant and otherworldly, flowing through cascading melodies and exhilarating modulation, before thunderous drums confidently return to the groove for a sweeping aerial finale. Making their label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Cosmic Frequencies' is NuFects. Conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects (short for The New Effect), quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente, while legends like Paul Oakenfold and Solarstone playlisted their music. With a discography that already includes releases via Clubsonica, Freegrant, Movement and WARPP; NuFects now adds Mycelium to their portfolio with a powerful rendition of 'Cosmic Frequencies'. While maintaining the uplifting spirit of the original, the Colombian duo aim squarely at a peak hour dancefloor with a sweeping sonic experience all their own. An exhilarating journey into a progressive wonderland; where flowing grooves, driving percussive arrangements and fresh designs surface from their energetic architecture, onwards to a finale of thumping beats and key changing melodies.
